Is it time to fresh up your shed, fence or perhaps wood cladding? Be inspired by these pictures, where a playhouse has had a makeover with WOCA Exterior Paint in red and white.
Forget all about fence paint and other specific paints for particular wood surfaces. WOCA Exterior Paint can be used on all outdoor wood, except decks.
This outdoor wood paint is a perfect solution if your wood needs to be renewed and freshened up. It protects the surface from fading, moisture and fluctuating temperatures, which makes it ideal for wood treatment and maintenance of garden furniture, fences, carports, sidings etc. WOCA Exterior Paint can be used for both new and previously treated wood and ensures a hard-wearing surface that protects against green growth and discoloration.
Both new wood and previously treated surfaces must be cleaned thoroughly with WOCA Exterior Cleaner. Loose pieces of old paint have to be removed. Heavily weathered or damaged woodwork must be sanded or cleaned with WOCA Deep Cleaner.
Hereafter, the wood must dry till it reaches max 15% humidity. If necessary, raised fibres are removed with sandpaper grit 120. If you want a smooth surface, a de-nibbing can be done between coats. Do not use any silicone-based products.
Stir the paint thoroughly before use. Apply the paint with a brush or a lacquer roller in a covering and even layer. The surface is re-paintable after 4 hours at 20°C. During this period, the wood must not be exposed to water. Second application must be done with undiluted paint in order to obtain maximum coverage. The material is touch dry after approximately 6 hours and completely dry after 24 hours.
Treatment must be carried out during dry weather. Avoid direct sunlight and strong heat.
Tip: By softwood, strongly absorbing and weather-beaten surfaces, we recommend to prime the wood with WOCA Outdoor Wood Primer first. Alternatively, dilute WOCA Exterior Paint with max 20% water. This will optimize absorbing and adherence properties of the wood.
Treated surfaces to be checked at least once a year and any damages must be repaired (these must be carried out as basic treatment). As the paint covers well, it is possible to do localized repairs in small “patches”. Prepare a slightly larger area than the damaged area and wipe the last paint in the brush over the edge so the shade is invisible and it harmonizes with the surrounding area.
Tip: Dirty surfaces have to be cleaned lightly with a soft brush and water (possibly with WOCA Exterior Cleaner added). Watch out for cracks in the paint. Should this occur, then repair as described in step 1 (cleaning).
