Base Primer, White is a thick, water-based wood primer that is ideal for areas where a light look is required. The primer seals the wood and minimises the tannic acid penetration and side-bonding. It is suitable for untreated and sanded surfaces of light woods. Base Primer, White works as a powerful basic lacquer before treatment with other water-based WOCA floor lacquers.
Untreated or sanded surfaces: Final sanding must be done with fine sandpaper (grit 120). Vacuum carefully and wipe surface with a cloth hard wrung in clean water. Apply Base Primer, White undiluted with brush or roller and allow the surface to dry. Apply a layer of topcoat with one of the WOCA floor lacquers and sand between coats using grit 150–200 sandpaper. Vacuum carefully and apply another 1-2 topcoats. Please note: to obtain a whiter colour, apply two layers of Base Primer, White and sand between coats. Actual sanding must only be done between the first and second topcoats, to avoid damaging the pigmentation. A treatment with a white-pigmented material generally requires more even sanding to prevent the pigments from sticking in the sanding grooves.
Relacquering already lacquered surfaces: Base Primer, White is only suitable for priming untreated or sanded wood surfaces.
